FireMaster Concertina
The FireMaster Concertina is a folding fabric fire curtain providing up to four hours of fire integrity without visible corner posts. Concealed in the ceiling until required, its pleated construction can form complex shapes around architectural openings.
Product Details
The FireMaster Concertina fire curtain has a fire protection rating of –/240/– and protects areas without the need for corner posts, giving architects and specifiers greater flexibility in building design.
Its tested folding system can form a wide range of shapes, with the complete assembly concealed within the ceiling headbox until deployment. For an insulated concertina-style system, see FireMaster Plus Concertina.
Concertina fire curtain construction
The folding fabric is formed from horizontally stitched strips that create pleats. The fabric retains the memory of its manufactured folds, allowing it to unfold as the bottom tray descends and fold neatly into the headbox during retraction. Corners can be manufactured at angles from 60° to 180°.
Bottom tray
The standard bottom tray is 300 mm wide, with a 170 mm slimline option available. Metalwork is zinc-coated mild steel and may be site-painted or powder-coated to RAL colours.

Fire testing reports four-hour integrity, radiant heat below 8.87 kW/m² at 500 mm for 30 minutes, and motor testing over 12 operating cycles during 30 minutes of fire exposure. The full assembly, including headbox and side guides, is fire rated.
Smoke leakage assessed at 3.1 m³/m²/hr under standard reference conditions at 200°C and 25 Pa.
Applications
Suitable for fire separation around complex openings without visible corner support posts. The system can be configured as a polygon, triangle, L-shape, curve, Z-shape or full circle.
Applications include atriums, multi-level voids, stair openings and architectural spaces requiring compartmentation against smoke, heat, superheated gases and fire.

Concealed until it matters.
The FireMaster Concertina remains retracted inside its ceiling headbox until activated by a fire alarm signal. Its pleated fabric then unfolds as the bottom tray descends to close the opening.
The complete folded assembly is stored within the overhead headbox.
On fire alarm activation, the curtain deploys by gravity at a controlled speed of 0.06–0.1 m/s.
The curtain closes the opening to create a fire and smoke compartment.
Operation can be tested using a key switch. Manual reset uses the control panel; automatic reset is available.
