Aluflam AF Fire Rated Glazing System Recognised at the 2026 AGWA Victoria Design Awards
Greene Fire is proud to celebrate Aluflam Australia’s recognition at the 2026 Australian Glass and Window Association (AGWA) Victoria Design Awards, receiving the Most Innovative Product/Service Award for the Aluflam AF Fire Rated Glazing System.
Developed by Aluflam Group and manufactured locally in Victoria by Aluflam Australia, the AF system combines fire-resistant glazing with thermally broken aluminium framing to provide a high-performance solution for architectural applications where fire protection and design need to work together.
As part of the Greene Fire Group, we are proud to bring Aluflam’s fire-rated glazing technology to the Australian market and to see the system recognised by the Australian glazing industry.
Innovation in Aluflam Fire Rated Glazing
Fire-rated glazing presents a unique challenge for architects, builders and fire engineers: achieving the required level of fire protection while maintaining transparency, natural light and architectural design intent. Aluflam's AF system addresses this challenge through an aluminium-framed fire-rated glazing solution developed for integration into contemporary architectural environments. The system uses thermally broken aluminium framing incorporating a fire-resistant core, combined with specialised fire-resistant glazing. Depending on the system and configuration, the Aluflam range can be used across applications including fixed windows, glazed doors and other architectural glazed elements. Unlike conventional clear glass, fire-resistant glass used within these systems contains specialised layers designed to respond when exposed to heat. Intumescent materials within the glazing react under fire conditions and contribute to the required integrity and insulation performance of the tested assembly. This allows the glazing and framing to function together as a complete fire-rated system while retaining the visual qualities expected of architectural glazing.Fire Performance Across the Aluflam AF Range
Different systems within the Aluflam AF range are designed to address different fire-resistance requirements. The Aluflam AF70 fixed window system can achieve a Fire Resistance Level (FRL) of up to -/60/60, while the Aluflam AF91 fixed window system can achieve an FRL of up to -/120/90, subject to the relevant tested configuration. Rather than treating the glass or framing as isolated components, fire performance depends on the complete tested assembly. The appropriate system therefore needs to be selected according to the project's required FRL, application and fire-engineering strategy. For architects and specifiers, this makes accurate system selection and access to tested technical information particularly important when incorporating fire-rated glazing into a project.Combining Fire Protection With Architectural Design
One of the defining characteristics of the Aluflam system is its use of aluminium framing in applications requiring fire resistance. The thermally broken profiles allow fire-rated glazing to be incorporated into architectural designs while providing the narrow profiles and finish options associated with aluminium systems. Aluflam framing can also accommodate a range of glazing configurations depending on the system and application. The AF70 profile, for example, can accommodate glazing from 6 mm to 38 mm thick, allowing both fire-rated and non-fire-rated glazing configurations to be incorporated where appropriate. This flexibility provides architects and project teams with greater scope to coordinate fire-safety requirements with the wider architectural language of a building.
Global Technology, Manufactured in Victoria
Aluflam's fire-rated glazing technology was developed by Aluflam Group. In Australia, Aluflam Australia manufactures systems locally in Victoria for the Australian market. Greene Fire established local Aluflam manufacturing in Victoria to improve access to Aluflam systems in Australia and reduce the long lead times historically associated with importing custom-made fire-rated glazing systems from Europe. Greene Fire announced the establishment of its Victorian Aluflam manufacturing operation in 2021 after several years of delivering Aluflam projects in Australia. Today, Aluflam Australia operates as part of the Greene Fire Group, combining Aluflam's international product technology with local manufacturing capability and Greene Fire's experience delivering engineered fire-protection solutions across Australian projects.Industry Recognition at the AGWA Victoria Design Awards
The Most Innovative Product/Service Award is a significant recognition for Aluflam Australia and everyone involved in bringing the AF Fire Rated Glazing System to the Australian market. Greene Fire congratulates the Aluflam Australia team and extends its thanks to the wider Aluflam team for their continued partnership and support. We are proud to continue working alongside Aluflam as the Greene Fire Group develops and delivers fire-protection solutions that respond to the evolving performance, compliance and architectural requirements of Australian projects.
