The main purpose of the lift and staircase lobby is to prevent the spread of fire and smoke from an accommodation floor to other levels via penetrations.
Where lifts are sent to their safe level in the event of an alarm,the simplest and most effective way of overcoming the need for a lobby is by the installation of a fire curtain with smoke control in front of the lift door on all floors except the escape level. The FireMaster S is specifically engineered to protect lift door openings and lift lobbies, providing reliable smoke containment and up to 4 hours of fire separation.
Designed for seamless integration into lift environments, the curtain remains invisibly retracted within its headbox above the lift opening. When activated by the building’s fire alarm or detector system, it deploys automatically creating a secure fire and smoke compartment to protect lift shafts, prevent smoke spread between levels, and support safe evacuation strategies.
Fully tested to AS1530.7 (2007), FireMaster S incorporates a unique housing system and additional tested smoke seals to deliver a smoke-tight barrier solution ideal for vertical transport zones.
